Is anyone else finding these Rising 16 forms a nightmare to complete? The boxes are small and the layout is awkward.

When it gets to the 'any changes to care' section, it is 8 years since I last filled in the forms. He needs the same level of care and supervision as last time but for slightly different reasons.

Any tips from those of you who have filled them in? xx

Hi Again

I didn't see an answer to my question for a couple of days, so I just assumed either nobody knew what I was talking about or didn't know the answer.

Anyway, thank you for the replies; I'd be interested on people's views on what I've decided I will do regarding this.

I thought under the circumstances, the best thing to do was to "Highlight" the line on the form that states that I do Not have to answer those questions, then "Resend" all the original paperwork from his DLA assessment from 2 years ago, ( as we keep copies of all the stuff we send to the DWP etc. ), and include copies of any new reports, which are just updated ones, and basically the same as the originals, and then get his current ( Special School ) tutor to fill in the "Statement from someone who knows you" question.

Hopefully after doing this, THEY, will not have any excuse to make a cock up of his DLA claim, as they should have everything they need Right There, the only difference being, that I have to now include Depression/ Bipolar to his list of Illnesses.

As I say, I'd be interested in people's views.........Thank you in advance.

Hi Again

I just spoke to the DLA office, Again, and explained what the form said, and said that I was going to send all the "Original" paperwork through again, and the Chap reckoned that, that would be a good idea, as he really wasn't sure whether they'd still have all the paperwork from the first claim.

So, a bit of advice, If you do still have paperwork pertaining to your original claim, Send It !, because the impression I get, is that the people at the DLA office don't seem to know which end is up concerning this particular form, and the chap I spoke to said that "They" were in somewhat of a turmoil regarding all the recent changes; So it seems they may need to be Spoon fed on this one.

Also,Kris/ Karen, I was expecting to get PIP forms rather than these ones, the only thing I suggest, is to have a Good look all the way through the forms before filling anything in, I know it sounds stupid, but this looks really different to the Child ones, and doesn't give you as many chances to be "Specific" as the child one does, which is another reason I'm sending the original stuff, so they can't misinterpret what I'm trying to say, regards care needs.

Richard

There seems to be some confusion in regard to moving over to PIP, so I am replying to you and anybody else who reads this post in the hope that it help clear this up.

Nobody will receive PIP forms, instead they will receive an invitation to claim PIP. They then need to contact the DWP and initiate a PIP claim, they will have four weeks to do this after which their DLA claim will be closed.

If they do claim PIP then their DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after a Decision has been on their PIP claim, after which their DLA claim will be closed and any PIP award will take effect.

I hope this explains it.

Hello Gordon,

Thank you for sorting that out;

The reason I believed that I was going to get PIP forms, is that I spoke to the DLA office before Christmas, as my son only got half of his DLA payment, and I was told, as he was reaching 16 on the 1st of Jan, he'd only be paid a half month, then a full month on the 28th of Jan, I was also told to expect some PIP forms in the near future, as he was reaching 16, and would have to be assessed as an adult, and under PIP, rather than DLA, instead I got the forms I have and not what I was advised I would get, which is where my confusion comes in.

So in the future, sometime, I should get a letter saying to claim PIP, as the DLA claim will end ?.

It's no wonder people get so confused, it seems the DWP don't even know what's going on.

Thank you for putting it straight.

I don't think that the left hand know what the right hand is doing.

I've decided to fill the Care section in again, even though he needs as much care and supervision a previously, the reasons have changed from when he was 8. I did keep the last claim that I sent.

I have filled every box I can with further information, rather than relying on the tick boxes and still have a few more to do. It's taken hours.

I know the PIP indicators will be slightly different in the future but think if I fill in the detail now it might help me to remember things when the PIP claims arise. xx
