Just wanted to get this off my chest,my wife sent her renewal forms back to disability office in Blackpool, last Oct,she hadant heard from them and her dla runs out in Feb,so she rang and rang, for 3 days running,in the end i found a direct number for them,so she rang and got through straight away, she was told she would have to ring the 0845 number and explained to him she was not a bt customer so would be charged a fortune for the call, his answer,"Well change your provider then"this faceless %$^>,had her in tears for the rest of the day,the frustration is to much, when are these people going to get a bit more sympathetic ?

There has been considerable criticism of the Governments use of 0845 numbers for the DWP and other departments, I believe they raised £56m last year through these numbers, departments have been told to switch 0800 ones, but as usual, there is no timescale.

Rudeness by call centre staff can never be excused, but as someone who used to work with this area of businesses, I can say that they are often treated pretty badly by their employers and many of the people who phone.

As a general rule, phoning before 9am, Tuesday through Thursday are the best times to contact the DWP.

They are not known for customer service but some are better than others. I find many call centre operators to be quite rude. I believe the DWP are working with providers on making calls cheaper.

Personally I have no sympathy for rude staff, especially when they are working for a government body, no matter how poorly they may be treated by their employer.

That is no excuse !!!! , especially when dealing with vulnerable people.
