Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Popsie,
Welcome to the forum. On the assumption that you are also new to the site I hope that you will find the following link helpful.
Welcome to Benefits and Work
The Support Group is one of the two groups of ther main phase ESA. Allocation to either of these groups depends entirely in meeting the relevant 'descriptors' and do not take into account the claimant's finances. People in both groups can be in receipt of either contributory or income-related, depending on the claimant's NI contributions and/or financial status.
Qualifying for the WRAG

Just to add to Mrs H's advice, it may be possible to receive an ESA(IR) top-up to a claimants normal ESA(CB), this is most likely to happen when in the Support Group.
Any ESA(IR) payment will depend on the claimants household income, assets and savings and any hours that a partner works.
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
