I don't understand all of these abbreviations was created by JeanCannon
I don't understand all of these abbreviations like GL24, ESA, SSCS1 and many others it drives me mad.
I know this is a great website, but I just don't understand it all.

I feel your pain. I work for the military where everything is a TLA or FLA, three letter abbreviation or four letter abbreviation

Hi J,
Yes, it can all be rather confusing.
GL24 = The Form that was used to make an appeal to The DWP regarding adverse decisions prior to 28/10/13.
The GL24 Form can be downloaded from the link on this page :
How to submit an appeal
ESA = Employment and Support Allowance. (The allowance that has replaced Incapacity Benefit (IB), Income Support (IS) on grounds of incapacity for work and Severe Disablement Allowance (SDA).
An SSCS1 = The form used to submit an appeal directly to The Tribunal Service (TS) after a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) has failed to change an adverse decision. (For adverse decisions made after 28/10/13)
See : www.justice.gov.uk/downloads/forms/tribunals/sscs/sscs1.pdf

Mandatory Reconsiderations Explained

Failing the above, the meaning of the majority of abbreviations can be found by putting them into Google, or another internet search engine.
