Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help. I received my PIP Award yesterday (yeah!) and I had read that once I receive PIP my Dad (who cares for me 24/7) would be entitled to claim for Carer's Allowance.
He currently receives Pension Credit (he's 64) of £145 (and a few pence) per week and I understand he could probably receive another £30 or so if he claims Carer's allowance.
Before I get him to claim, can someone tell me if it will affect his Benefits. I don't want there to be problems with his Pension Credit.

Based on what you have posted, I would expect the following
- The CA will paid - The Carers Premium will be added to your father's Pension Credit. - The CA will be treated as income in regard to the PC and deducted. - There will be a net increase of about £30/week.
However, once he receives the State Pension, his situation will change and he may lose the payments depending on his personal circumstances. Ideally he should get face to face advice from a trained advisor in regard to the short and long term payments that he might receive.
