ESA& away from home was created by petrocelli
Hi all

Just a quickie if I may……………..For those claiming ESA C who maybe go and stay with relatives for a few days/weekend, surely if DWP have their MOBILE phone number, then they are always able to contact the claimant, (providing of course they have it with them)? I’m talking in England!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks

P.

Yes P, DWP should be able to get hold of the claimant via mobile if they need to, but most contact is via post rather than phone even if DWP do have a mobile number on file. Whether or not they have a mobile phone number on record, DWP state that a claimant in receipt of ESA must notify them if they are going to be away from home - even in England, even for just 1 day.

I am a DLA/PIP specialist so don't deal with ESA, in N.I. , England, Scotland or Wales.

However, to the best of my knowledge it applies to the UK.

If I'm wrong, one or more of our moderators withe more experience in ESA will correct me.

I've been on IB and now ESA for more than ten years and I never tell the DWP if I'm going to be away unless they inform me beforehand that they need to see me and then they ask for any dates when I will not be available. They never ask why I won't be available. I live in Cardiff.
