If you are in the work group for ESA and voluntarily attend work stuff like it says you can, will this arouse suspicion and make them more likely to change minds and put you in the WRAG group?

This is a difficult question. It would depend whether the work contradicted, or could be seen to contradict, your stated limitations. Say for example you felt you were entitled to be in SG because of limited mobility and the voluntary work was based from home this should not be in contradiction with your claim. But, as a stupid hypothetical example, if the voluntary work was dog walking they would most likely use this as evidence that you do not fulfill that particular SG descriptor.

One should bear in mind that one can do voluntary work in the SG and even some permitted paid work.

Hi GJ,

Just to clarify, although taking part in Work Related Activity (WRA) (which is different to Permitted Work) is totally voluntary for claimants in The SG, once they volunteer, it can become mandatory with the threat of sanctions for non compliance.

Therefore, members of The SG should be careful when volunteering for any WRA.

Can SG people can do permitted work and avoid volunteering for work related activity and risk it becoming mandatory?

Or is it the case that it is best to do neither if you do not want to risk getting removed from the SG?
