Hi
I live abroad and am currently going through the appeal process. My hearing was on the 23/5 so I had hoped that this nightmare would be over by now. However, the judge outlined our meeting and said I might like to consider an adjournment as my evidence, written in french and translated by me was inadmissible as it had not been done by a certified translator. Has anyone else had this problem? No where on any paperwork have I found this info. In my letter to DWP when I sent my specialist's report I did the translation but wrote that I was sure that they would want to have their own done, but they chose not too. When I pointed out to the judge that I believed the original translation done by ATOS contained inaccuracies and worse omissions he has instructed that the DWP also get a new translation done. I would be interested to hear from others living abroad if they have had similar experiences and how they overcame them.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I can't say that I am surprised that the Tribunal refused to accept your translation of the documents, from what you have posted, I think the Judge is suggesting that by you getting your own translation, you will be able to highlight those areas where there was a discrepancy with the original DWP translation and possibly the new one that they are doing.

I am afraid, if the Judge did not offer to cover the costs of the translation when the hearing was adjourned then you will have to bear them yourself.
