Severe Disability Premium - living with others

Hi
I have a question about the ‘Severe Disability Premium’ for ESA. I’m in the Support Group, single and receive Middle rate DLA care also.
I’ve been sent a form to fill out for the Severe Disability Premium (out of the blue never asked? Never even knew it existed).
The issue is I live with my parents (they are my carers) so would this exclude me from entitlement as technically I do not live alone? Are parents considered as non dependants even if they are my careers? They do not receive Careers Allowance for me.
On the form Question 9. states ‘Does anyone live with you’ – Do I have to state my parents here as technically they don’t live with me, I live with them in their home?
Any clarification would be fab thanks :)

I think it unlikely that you will qualify as you are not living alone, but it is still worth your completing and returning the form just in case the DWP take a different view.

You should answer question 9 that you live with your parents.

Hi dl,

If you are not entitled to payment of the SDP, you may be entitled to payment of the Enhanced Disability Premium (EDP) as you are in The ESA Support Group. (SG) (if you are not already in receipt of it) :

ESA Premiums

So as Gordon says, it may still be worthwhile filling in the form, which I am assuming is an ESA 3 Form.

Hi thanks for the answers that was very helpful.

Gordon, I will return the form anyway and see what happens, like you say.

Bro 58,
The form I have been sent out is just white sheets of paper following on from a letter, no number to identify what form, not even anywhere to write my name? But I think it is some sort of IS10 form or a variation of it.
I’ve never heard of and ESA 3 or the enhanced disability premium so thanks for letting me know. I take it to get the Enhanced Disability Premium ESA 3 is the form to fill in? Do you know where I would get such a form I have severe anxiety and hate ringing them up.

Thanks a lot :)

I would expect an IS10 to be used in connection with the Severe Disability Premium.

I am afraid you can only get an ESA3 from the DWP, you might be able to get one from your local JC+ office but it is unlikely that they will talk to you about it without you making an appointment first.

An ESA3 captures the information required to allow payment of Income Related ESA, either in part or in whole, I am surprised that you have not already had one if your are not already receiving ESA(IR), as payment of SDP (ignoring your eligibility) is dependant on you receiving ESA(IR), so there would seem to be no point them sending you an IS10 and not an ESA3 as well.

The Enhanced Disability Premium, also referred to as Disability Income Guarantee is paid to claimants in the ESA Support Group who are entitled to ESA(IR).
