payment to carer was created by Rachias
Hello there. I have a query about the care component - I'm not sure what it is called now.
In either ESA, DLA, or PIP, is the claimant expected to pay a carer out of his care component award?
If the carer does not require payment is that reflected in the award made. Thank you.

Hi Rachias,
DLA and PIP are awarded for care needs (ESA does not have a care element) but the amount paid in no way reflects the cost of care, you could buy very little for the money you are paid! Once awarded, there are no regulations regarding how you spend the money, you could choose to pay for ready-made food, have your hair done, put it towards a holiday or lose it en general expenditure, it is entirely up to you
If you get medium or high care DLA or enhanced care of PIP, someone might be able to get paid Carers Allowance for you. Again, the amount paid would not reflect the commercial cost of care.

From my ltd understanding a carer can be paid for from receipt of a carers allowance but is subject to household income and who is part of the household.
I.e in my case I am in receipt of ESA SG, DLA Care/Mobility component.
I am not receiving carers allowance, EDP or any other benefit as my husband works full time and cares for me.
When he is not around my care needs are met by carers and is met financially from my ESA DLA income. financially tight but we have to manage as no Carers allowance EDP etc is available to those who have a partner that works and the income exceeds £89 per week
If you have ltd finances then IR benefits kick in and help to pay for carers, EDP etc.

I understand the point you are trying to make but I am afraid that your example is specific to yourself and has mashed up the various rules concerning each benefit into one
If Rachias has a specific example we'll be happy to provide an answer.

Hiya,
yep understand.
Just wanted to show how difficult it is to obtain benefits which are available, as long as you meet the criteria or fit in the right boxes !!!
