CB ESA and Pension was created by neptuno
I currently receive CB ESA Support Group - I have a pension due in January of a small lump sum plus £57 pwk (state pension due in another six years). Will this affect my ESA benefit and who should I notify about it ? if this falls outside your remit can you advise best contact ?

Hi n,

As you are in receipt of CB ESA, (irrelevant of which group you are in. WRAG or SG) the lump sum should not have any adverse affect on your CB ESA payments, no matter how much the lump sum is.

As long as your Occupational Pension does not exceed £85/Week, that will not affect your CB ESA payments either.

The above is only true if you are receiving CB ESA only. If any part of your ESA is Income Related (IR) ESA even though the "small lump sum" will not have any adverse effect unless it takes your total capital, assets and savings above £6,000, the weekly payments no matter how much they are would be offset against any IR ESA top-ups that you were in receipt of £ for £.

See : Asset rule for ESA(IR)

I mention IR ESA, as you state that you are in The SG.

Being in the SG can mean that you also receive The Enhanced Disability Premium (EDP) as an IR ESA top-up to your CB ESA payments :

ESA Premiums

In all circumstances, once you have written verification of when and how much you are to receive as a lump sum and any weekly payments from the pension provider, you should send copy to The address of The Benefits Office/Centre on your most recent ESA letter.

Include a brief covering letter with an explanation.

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
