So as I live alone, have no carer and get PIP daily living component, then would I not qualify for severe disability premium and would that get paid in the ESA assessment period?
Sorry if I'm being dense, but that's how I read the ESA premium page linked above.

Hi T,
As you live alone, no one receives Carers Allowance for providing care for you, and you are in receipt of PIP Daily Living, this gives you an "Entitlement" to The SDP.
To be paid The SDP as a premium top-up to your ESA Assessment Rate, you would have to be entitled to and paid Income Related (IR) ESA in that you passed the IR ESA means test with respect to capital, assets, savings, household income and any hours worked by a partner if you have one.
This means test (financial assessment) generally involves filling in an ESA 3 Financial Assessment Form.
So to be paid any ESA Premiums, you must have an entitlement to IR ESA as well as said premiums.
See :
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
Here is a previous post of mine which gives details of IR ESA Premiums, which may help further with your understanding of this issue :
