PIP Mandatory Reconsideration was created by jodyaj
Good Evening.

My partner received his pip decision on 24th December and I submitted a Mandatory Reconsideration for the Mobility element as I believe he should have been awarded 8 points and he was only awarded 4.
I posted this recorded delivery on 27th December and it was signed for on 29th December. Is it usual to receive acknowledgment for this? And how long should I wait before chasing it up?
Thanks very much in advance for any replies

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You would not usually expect written confirmation of receipt of an MR Request.

It can take 2 weeks or more for such a request to be scanned onto The DWP systems, this may take even longer with the Xmas & New Year holidays.

MR's are currently taking 6-8 weeks on average.

You could give it another week or so, then ring the PIP Helpline to see whether your PIP MR request has been registered :

PIP helpline :

Telephone: 0345 850 3322

Textphone: 0345 601 6677

Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm

Please keep us updated.

I sent my letter requesting a mandatory reconsideration on 1st October 2014 and have heard nothing. I have now chased it up and waiting to hear back from them. Its appalling.

Thanks for your replies.

Crystaltips, I received a decision today which did not change the original award. Hopefully your decision will be more favourable.
