Pip face to face assessment at home was created by Julie Hayes
Hi, I've been appointed my son's appointee, who has complex learning disabilities he is 16 but has a mental age of a 5-7 year old, social comunication disorder, anxiety, scoliosis of the spine
We are moving from dla to pip and have capita coming to our home for a face to face assessment, just wondering how this works when they have appointed me to do all this on his behalf as he isn't capable?
Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Feedback from members regarding Capita Assessors is positive in the main.

I would make it clear to The Assessor from the onset that you are the Appointee. (just in case they are not already aware)

Have the relevant documented confirmation of this to hand, in case they want to see it.

There should then be no problem in all questions being directed to you.

You can read what to expect at a PIP Assessment from Page 64 onwards of our :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

I hope all goes well for you and your son !! :)

Please return to let us know after the Assessment.

Hi, had the pip face to face today for my son.
The lady who came from capita arrived on time and was her 90 mins, was really lovely, spoke to me about my son as I'm his appointee, then saw my son.
Just glad that's over!! The decision she said is taking 4-8 weeks.
