I think I predicted that my home assessment didn't go well but the speed of the refusal has knocked me for six. This from an HCP who didn't know what CFS was! I'm still getting over the experience and only read the first few lines. Dot know if I have the energy or will to appeal. It's grinding work. Any tips gratefully received. Searcher

Hi S,

I am sorry to hear of the bad news !! :(

If you wish to challenge this adverse decision, your only option is to make a written request for a Mandatory Reconsideration which should arrive back at The DWP PIP, no later than one month from the date of the PIP Decision Notice letter.

You could point out any failings with The PIP Assessor, but the important issue would be to reiterate how and why you feel that you should have qualified for the appropriate PIP Award.

Thanks for that quick info Bro. Given full moon is pending I think my circadian rhythms are causing a cloud! However, I will carry on regardless. It's hard having to do this alone so B&W info is brilliant.
Wont be down for long! Searcher

 if I don't go t Tribunal and my condition worsens, can I reapply? I just can't supply new evidence within the time plus I haven't the energy. Advice please?

Hi S,

You can make a fresh claim for PIP at any time !

Have you considered requesting a "Paper Hearing", even though the success rates are lower than for "Oral HearingS" it may be better than simply not turning up.

Just because you feel that you haven't provided enough evidence does not mean that your appeal will fail.

The Tribunal Panel may be able to glean enough information from evidence that they already have, and from what they can gain from you personally at the hearing.

 I'll give it a go, read 50ways and realise that there's more ways to skin a cat. Taking it in small bites everyday but reading the HPC report makes one feel like a liar and I'm an Optimist by nature. I realise that is why they make it so difficult and ME/CFS is an easy target.its soul destroying. I'm concerned that if my defence is too literate it will not help my appeal. I have no help, CAB are swamped, friends are far flung, family is dysfunctional so it's hard to get it together. But I just feel it needs to be done.
