NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES TO HEALTH was created by woodsie
Hi Guys! Quick question i hope you can answer?
I am blind and in the support group of ESA. I am due for review in May as my three years are up. I am aware that reviews are being delayed by up to two years for people and "guess" that there is a possibility that as my blindness is incurable i may fall into the category that is left alone.
I have since last July been suffering tinnitus and from October began to suffer rapid hearing loss. Since then audio-gram, MRI,and finally end of February a consultation with an ENT specialist who has prescribed hearing aids. I am still waiting for an appointment to have them fitted(tried to hurry them as have had three near misses with cars over the last couple of months; couldn't see them didn't hear them tried to emphasize to the ENT Specialist that as i could not see i would appreciate an appointment sooner than later. Since initial confirmation of moderate to severe five months and still waiting. How much longer would it take if i could see ??) So wont send off info until they are fitted.
My question is this; if i send a letter informing DWP of my hearing loss will it trigger an immediate review or will they accept the fact that my health conditions have deteriorated as i will still automatically qualify the support group criteria!
Ireally dont want to go through the ESA treadmill again unless i have to.
Many thanks for any replies in advance!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Reporting a change in your conditions could easily result in a re-assessment being triggered, the DWP staff are not medically trained and I doubt that they would realise that this change would not result in a change of award.
Whilst I cannot say that you should not notify them, the simple fact is that they are only really interested in improvements that might result in a reduced award, worsened conditions are rarely considered a priority to process.
