ESA CB Support Group - Permitted Work Confusion was created by Healthhunter
Could you please help shed any light on this complex situation.
I am wanting to try and work a few hours and I understand I can do this for 14hrs a week without losing my benefit but I have heard that my award could be looked at sooner than Sept 16 which is when it is awarded to. I am wanting to see if I could hold down a job for a few hours a week or if it would push my illness backwards....should I just be very grateful that I have been awarded the benefit and budget tighter rather than trying to earn a little extra money?
My DLA was recently renewed and I was awarded high m and middle c indefinitely - will this award be jeopardise if I try to work as above?
Thank you for your time,
Healthhunter

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I opted to use this post to reply as it has an additional question
Providing your doing Permitted Work (PW) does not conflict with your stated limitations on your last ESA50 then there should be no problem with you doing PW and it should not cause an early re-assessment of your claim.
You do need to inform the DWP that you are intending to do PW and they will need to confirm that the work you intend to do meets their requirements for acceptability. There is a guide to PW in the ESA section.

The issues are substantially the same for DLA, there is no specific requirement for you to tell the DLA Unit that you are starting work, but it may not be to your advantage if you do not and the DWP decide there is an issue. Also, if the DWP do decide to re-assess you because of your starting work and you are in an active PIP postcode you will be invited to claim PIP.
