esa and doing permitted work was created by ben
Hi everyone this is my first time. I am in receipt of ESA in the support group.I may do one days work per month for 3 months and will earn £ 153 for the one day .Surely they will not stop my claim for one days work .Do you know if they would just spread the £153 I earn for one day over a period of a month

You must inform the DWP in advance that you are intending to do Permitted Work (PW), it is possible that they will average you earnings, but if they do not then you cannot earn more than the Upper Earnings Limit (currently about £102/week), even 1p more will result in you being classed as being in remunerative work and no longer eligible for ESA. See our PW guide for more details.

hi gordon, thanks for your reply.Hopefully they will spread the amount out.It just seems ridiculous to stop a claim for one days work a month.Have you heard of this happening,as you can probably tell I am a bit anxious about it.Many thanks Ben

I know of claimants where there has been an averaging of payments, although the circumstances have not been as extreme as yours and I also know claimants who have had their claims terminated for exceeding the earnings limit.
