Pip and wheelchair user was created by Hayley
Hi. I'm just on the last question on my pip form and i was looking for some advice please. I have read the guides but it is confusing me.
I am a fulltime wheelchair user, i cannot stand or walk at all.
I don't know if the criteria is asking whether i can wheel 20m instead of walking.
I can push my manuel chair about 4 metres before getting to tired.
Can anyone claify this for me please
Many thanks x

Hi H,
Welcome to Benefits and Work
The PIP "Moving Around" section is purely a "Walking" test, "Stand then move".
If you use a wheelchair out of necessity rather than choice or convenience and cannot "Walk" aided or unaided then you should be awarded Enhanced Rate Mobility of PIP.
This being the case, you should make it absolutely clear that you cannot stand then move (Walk) any distance at all.
You may be getting confused with The ESA Mobilising Descriptor, where not only are you assessed on whether you can walk the requisite distance aided or unaided, you are also assessed on whether you can self propel a manual wheelchair unaided over the same distance.

Got lots of medical reports which will hopefully help.
Thanks again
