PIP: General query regarding “Assistance”, etc

What if a PIP claimant’s incapacity in one or more areas of daily living or mobility is so severe that assistance and/or supervision is of no help or of limited value? When a claimant makes this clear in completing his/her PIP2 is he/she likely to score more points or will the fact that support doesn’t help count reduce the score?

Thanks,

Mari

There is no way to answer this as it will be dependant on the wording of the Descriptor in question, although as a general comment, having more need will not reduce the points you get.

A good example, are the two mobility Descriptors; the Moving Around Descriptor is severity based, the worse you are (the less you can walk) the more points you get, the Going Out Descriptor is functionally based, planning a route, following a familiar route and following an unfamiliar route, in this case it does not matter how bad your route planning is you can only score a certain number of points for it.
