WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT PERMITTED WORK?

This is what a PW 1 Form looks like : PW 1 Form (Permitted Work ESA 10/11)
This version is a sample for you to look at, it is from 10/11 so there may be a more current version.

i am on esa, support group with premiums also dla, i thought income support was part of that but i guess i was wrong,
you say that the job centre will need to know what kind of work you are planning. i am a bit worried about what work they would deem good or bad, i think as long as i am within the confines of what was written on my application it should be ok, i'm just worried bc i am not sure what that is, i think what i wanted to do would be borderline,
my main goal is to help others like myself and i have been to college 5hrs a week for that, but i dont want to get into trouble. i also think i may be able to manage a call centre maybe, start small hours and then increase slowly, idk if i can do it now or not though and i am very worried about it but i want to try, i hate having nothing to do all day.
Hi S,
You cannot receive Income Support (IS) with ESA.
The equivalent means tested benefit for ESA is Income Related (IR) ESA.
e.g. Your "Premiums" will be paid as IR ESA.
Being in receipt of IR ESA in The Support Group (SG) should not have any adverse effect on you doing Permitted Work.

i am also worried that they might say that my circumstances have changed, the only thing that has changed is that i am more anxious now but my schizophrenia is under better control,
its complicated but i am very worried that they wont understand that

i am extremely mistrustful of the dwp and the jobcentre and i am very worried about what they might say,

Hi S,
You could ring The ESA Call Centre :
THE ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 Press Option 3 for ESA. (Open 8AM-6PM. Mon-Fri.)
Or write to the address of the Benefits Office/Centre on your most recent ESA letter.
You would be requesting a PW 1 Form in connection with Permitted Work.

if i told them that my circumstances have changed slightly they might change my entitlement
and if i asked them for a permitted work form idk what might happen

do they refer you to the job centre or anything idk what could happen

Hi S,
I should imagine that simply requesting a PW 1 Form would not instigate any action.
It would only be actioned upon if you filled it in and returned it.
You don't have to give details of why you want The PW 1 Form, you could even say that you are requesting it for a friend.
If you phone, as it is a general query and will not need the Call Responder to access your ESA file you do not even have to answer any security questions.
If you withhold your number by pressing 141 before dialling the ESA number, you can hang up if you feel that they are trying to question you unduly.
Failing that you could contact your local CAB or Dial to see if they have one.
