DWP Industrial injuries Benefit was created by Vivienne
Hi. First time posting, so hope I do it right. Can you please advise me if you give advise on DWP Industrial Injuries Benefit?. I was made an award of 40% back in the late 90's following an injury sustained at work. I have got worse, and I realise some of my degeneration is due to the ageing process, however I strongly believe many of my symptoms have worsened and I have developed further symptoms which I believe are associated to my injury.
I'm aware if I ask to be reviewed I could potentially lose some of my benefit.
Any advice will be greatly received.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I am afraid that we do not advise on IIDB on the forum, it really requires face to face advice from an advisor with experience in this area.
Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

Hiya,
IIB, when you have been assessed for life that is what it is set at.
However over time if you have further problems you can go ahead and fill out another form and arange a further apt.
But be warned.
You may have your IIB at 40% reduced if they see fit to do so.
Or if as you say degenerative age probs have set in that may disallow further % increase.
Also if arthritis and similiar has set in that too will disallow an increase % and/or reduce what you have in place.
Even if the arthritis/degenerative or similiar has started primarily due to the existing injury you could get an award dropped.
This I know seems unfair because the degenerative state or arthritis or similiar has only happened because of the existing problem and would not have happened if you had not had the problem never gets accounted for and in fact may reduce an existing award if you notify them of the further problems.
How do I know, cos I have been down this avenue with a lawyer and found out.
What we all should have done, but were not told, was to get this put in place when we first went to the IIB DWP Doctor for assessment.
Mine is set at 50% and it was stated via the involvement of the lawyer that if iI had put this all in place at the very date of final assessment it would have been at 80% if not more to take in acount the further problems that will/have incurred over time.
I hope this helps
Please take good advice via GP/Specialist b4 going on to see CAB/Welfare officer
