Hello Moderators,

I wonder if you can help me please?

If I were to contact DWP, as we are all required to do, to inform them that my husbands' condition has become worse so he needs more 'care', what is the routine from that point?

I am wondering what DWP do, for example do they send a new Application form to start from scratch, send him to see a Doctor, or what would happen?

If any other Members have experience of this I would be interested to know please?

Thank you.

Mrs Bill

Hi Mrs B,

The first thing that you need to find out is whether reporting a Change of Circumstances (C of C) resulting in a review, would be to see whether the review would be under current DLA qualifying criteria, or, if you are in an Active PIP Postcode Area at the time of reporting a C of C, under PIP criteria.

You should be able to ascertain this ; Here.

If you were reviewed under DLA criteria, you would have to fill in a DLA Renewal Form, your G.P. may be asked to fill in a G.P. Factual Report, (GPFR) and you may or may not have to attend a "medical".

Although they have not been carrying out a lot of DLA "medicals" in recent times due to the transfers over to PIP.

As with any review, they will look at the whole DLA award/s from scratch, this can result in an increase of the current DLA award/s, or a decrease.

In reality reduction of current DLA Awards seldom happen.

Other members are most welcome to provide feedback regarding this issue if they wish to ! :)
