appealing PIP award was created by rainbowjo
Really need some advice on whether to appeal my pip award, I was given standard rate of personal care for a period of 7 yrs but nothing for mobility.
I was awarded 4 points for mobility which shows me that they except that I have a mobility issue. Most of the points I was awarded for personal care were down to aids that I use to help me manage on a daily basis due to my mobility??
I was given zero points for being able to plan and follow route of a journey unaided. This is what I want to appeal against. I haven't left my home for the last 2 years unless I'm accompanied by my friend, this is for emotional support and safety.
please help, what do I do, I'm scared of losing what I already have.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
The DWP can look at your whole award and whilst it is unlikely, they can remove your existing award as part of any reconsideration.
You don't say how many points you got for Daily Living, if it was only the 8 required for a Standard award then you might want to be more circumspect about challenging the decision than if you score more points.
Have you requested the assessment report? If not then you can do so by phoning the DWP office that dealt with your claim, we recommend following up the request in writing.
Have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process and template letters that you can use the request.

For an award you will need to show that you meet the criteria, have a look at our PIP Claim guide for details of the criteria, available on the same link.
If you have any further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thank you for quick response.
Yes I was only awarded 8 points for Daily Living
I am in two minds on what to do, part of me is really grateful for what I was awarded yet I cant seem to drop the fact that I wasn't awarded mobility as this is my main issue..

Ultimately, this is a decision that only you can make.
