PIP application was created by ES Barnes
Hi
Can anyone advise me if I can apply for PIP, I have a full time job which I have been off sick since March. I am hoping to go for redundancy as I am unable to do my job, my GP and Physio at the chronic fatique Clinic have both advised I consider leaving work. I kept refusing there advise of reduced hours and I am in a poor state of health.
I have.
Fibromyalgia
Chronic Fatique
Brain Fog hence all the spelling mistakes.
Ostathritus.

I feel nervous applying, frightened I get in a mess with the questions. I have your guide and on a good day, I can work it out. I already hold a blue badge which my GP supported me to apply
Advice and comments would be welcome.

Your working does not prevent you applying for PIP, you need to have a look at our PIP Claim Guides to see whether you meet the criteria or not. See

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you have exhausted your Statutory Sick Pay, this is not the same as any sick pay that your work has been paying you then you can also make a claim for ESA, even if you are still employed and receiving pay. See

Alongside working reduced hours &/or redundancy I would suggest you check out the terms of your occupational pension, if provided, to see if you would qualify for early retirement due to long term ill-health. Much will depend on the prognoses for your illnesses as to which is the most appropriate option for you.

Your employer is obliged under the Equality Act to consider 'reasonable adjustments' to your working conditions, if s/he has been told by you of your illnesses.

As a fellow person with ME/CFS & osteoarthritis do take the time to carefully gather as much information as you can before making your decision.

Best wishes
