ESA or Income support was created by Suebnm
Last year - thanks to Benefits and Work - I made a successful PIP claim receiving enhanced mobility and standard care. I now today find myself in a position where my husband and I need to claim benefit. My husband has worked for 40 years and is fully up to date with class 1 conts and is seriously ill but not life threateningly so. I am aware that he could claim carers for me and so qualify for Income Support. He is 55 and I am 50. We have no savings.
As I understand the ESA descriptors he will not get the support group of CB ESA but would qualify for WRAG. I do not work and have no up to date conts. If the was claim in my name I would qualify for the ESA support group but would be income based. We own our own house with no mortgage and have no dependents.
I know you don't particularly deal with IS but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of the best benefit to claim. JSA is not an option for either of us. I have set the ball rolling today on a PIP claim for him. Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You need to get face to face advice from a trained advisor who can calculate what you would receive in each benefit, something you we cannot do on the forum. There are also implications in regard to Universal Credit replacing ESA(IR) and Income Support and whilst I don't want to open the subject to debate on the forum, the result of tomorrow's election may also impact on your Decision.
Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.
