DLA Query. was created by Moz
My son has been on DLA for three years due for review on 3/7/2015. Been sent an application to re-apply for DLA again, when I asked why I was told he had not been selected for PIP. Does anyone know why this is as DLA could not tell me. Also his condition has not improved since we first applied three years ago. He had a spinal fusion of L3/L4/L5 which did not work and left him with very limited mobility and pain 24/7 due to nerve damage. He cannot walk very far and can not sit for any length of time, unable to dress below waist. However as consultant discharged him about 6 months after surgery as they stated nothing more could be done, he attended a pain clinic and is on medication which dulls pain but does not stop it, our main concern is that when we complete the forms this time we do not have any new paperwork from the hospital/GP to back our claim. What can we do, can anyone help us filling out the forms, or give us advice what to do. The forms have to be returned no later than next week. Thank you

We live in the DH postcode and according to your PIP roll out map it looks like my son should have been asked to apply for PIP - however his 3 year DLA claim runs out on 3rd July and its only because I phoned last week that forms were sent out. However he has been sent another DLA claim form which is like a new claim pack. Is this correct, can you please answer this as a matter of urgency as time is running out before his DLA claim ends. Thank you :S

Hi M,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

Posting duplicate posts will not speed up our response, as posts sit in a pre-moderation are before being approved and responded to by a Mod.

If your Son has received a DLA Renewal pack rather than an invitation to claim PIP, then that is what he should fill in and return by any deadline.

There is a guide on DLA Renewals under the heading "DLA Changes and Renewals" on : This Page.

You can also refer to The DLA Claims Guides on the same page nearer the top.

You should treat the Renewal just as you would with a fresh DLA claim, and go into detail of how and why he should continue to receive the appropriate DLA Award.

See also : When should I send my renewal form back?

See also : DM Guide DLA & AA

You should ensure that the Renewal is posted to arrive back in good time, and it would be advisable to post it recorded, signed for :

Sending Documents to the DWP.

Once you have checked on line (Track & Trace) that the Renewal Pack has been received by DLA, you should ring them to confirm that they have it.

Please reply to this topic if you have any further queries.

Thank you and apologies for sending two in two posts, however the second one was slightly different as I thought because we are in a postcode area that was due for PIP that's what we would receive. But I do appreciate your answer and I was not trying to get you to answer any quicker. I really do appreciate your help but I am new to the forum and did not realise how it works. Thank you again.

You are new to the forum so apologies accepted :) it just makes more work for the Moderators and can lead to duplicate answers.
