Confused over PIP and ESA

Confused over PIP and ESA was created by Benson
I have been on ESA or IB for over a decade due to long term health issues. I am currently in the support group until October 2017. I have never claimed DLA or PIP.

Can someone explain to me the difference ? Is it worth me trying to claim PIP too ? Are there any stats about those already on ESA for what happens with their PIP claims ? On your FAQ you say 98% need a F2F since 2014, I presume this includes those already in the ESA Support Group ?

Also are PIP claims more likely to have a home visit F2F than ESA claims ? Also does my ESA result have any effect at all on the PIP claim ? So if I failed PIP would that have a knock on effect to my ESA ?

Thanks all, sorry if the questions don't make sense.

ESA is paid to working age claimants who are unable to work due to illness or disability.

PIP is paid to working age claimants who due to illness or disability have additional living costs due to their care or mobility needs.

I haven't seen any statistics linking the two benefits together, just because someone receives one of the benefits does not mean that they will qualify for the other. We have seen reports from one benefit used in awarding the other, but we are not aware of any examples where a failure in one has impacted on the other.

Home assessments are more likely with PIP than ESA, but it is still at the discretion of the Assessment Provider and the claimant still needs to provide clear evidence why one would be needed.

I would start by having a look at our PIP Claim guide for more information on the criteria.
