I have never had to undergo a medical or interview, and I wonder whether to put myself through applying for PIP. Would it affect my current ESA status? I would be grateful for any advice you can give me.

I just wrote a letter asking DWP to reconsider and was placed in the Support Group. My question is: is it worth applying for PIP? I cannot envisage being in a position to return to work (I am 58). I have fibromyalgia, joint hypermobility syndrome (a form of EDS) and depression/anxiety. It would be very useful to not have to pay for prescriptions, and a blue badge would help my life considerably.

Hi aw9358,
Welcome to Benefits and Work

ESA assesses your Capability for Work, PIP is a totally different benefit with different qualifying criteria and assesses you Daily Living and Mobility limitations along with your Care needs.
You can work full time and still receive PIP !
Applying for PIP should not have an adverse effect on your SG ESA award.
You can take our : PIP Self Test which should give you an indication on your potential to qualify for a PIP Award.
Our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page) takes you through the whole PIP Claims process.
Please reply to this topic if you have any further queries.
