Can someone tell me please, if you can physically walk, but never without severe pain how does this stand with regard to PIP mobility?

Hi Jaycie,

In order to be judged to complete an activity, you must be able to do it reliably, repeatedly, safely and without severe pain/exhaustion for the majority of time.

This is explained in detail in our PIP guide
