PIP Appeal help needed please was created by bassettsfarm
Hi All

Yesterday I received a bundle of papers from the DWP, which I am guessing is their response to the Tribunal Service about my PIP claim. I already filled out my form and sent it off to the Tribunal people and have had a reply from them, but no date as yet for a hearing.

My question is, what am I supposed to do between now and the hearing? I've sent every piece of evidence I have, so should I be trying to gather more? I'm not quite sure if I now just turn up on the day and answer their questions, or turn up with heaps of fresh evidence, and save the day like some TV court drama!

It's really, really stressful, as im sure you all know, but I had an emergency hysterectomy just last week and I can't concentrate on recovering from that because of worrying about the PIP thing.

I think I might need a 'virtual' slap to calm me down . :woohoo:

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give

It's entirely up to you whether you make a submission or not, but it is you opportunity to deal with any of the points that were raised from the assessment or from the Decision Maker, there will be only a limited opportunity to deal with these at the hearing.

Typically we would recommend that you once again explain why you think that you meet the criteria, you may have already explained this in and with your PIP2 form, but see whether you can condense all of that information to one or two paragraphs, you can always make reference back to your form and evidence, but if you do, use the numbering that has been created by the Tribunal Service rather than the original.

Also, you can address the points raised by the assessor and the DM, I would recommend that you approach it via the facts rather then attempting to tackle any opinions stated as you are more likely to have success at undermining the arguments against you having an award this way.

Thank you, Gordon. That has really helped. I was drowning in this sea of paperwork, not knowing where to start. I can now get down to business!!

Just one more thing....once I write the couple of paragraphs, do I send them to the Tribunal people, or just take that on the day for the panel to read then?

Sorry to be a pain!

You should send it at least a week in advance of the hearing to the Tribunal Service, you can take more evidence on the day, but it should not exceed one side of A4 or you risk it being rejected.
