pip mobility was created by shirley
hi my husband currently receives high care and low mobility with mental health issues, his mobility is now suffering, he has mild arthritis in his knees but due to inactivity he has muscle wasting he is being helped by a physiotherapist but his mobility at the moment is very poor as he can hardly walk unaided by someone, would it be worth applying for a change in circumstances for high mobility? many thanks

You need to check the following postcode map, there is still one set of postcodes on the IK mainland that is not live until 27 July

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/upl...code-map-may-jul.pdf

If you are in a PIP area then notifying the DWP of a Change of Circumstances will result in your husband being invited to claim PIP and he will not be able to retain his current DLA award in the long term. See our PIP Claim for details of the criteria.

If you are in the remaining set of postcodes that are not yet live then you would have to notify the DWP in writing before the 27th of the Change and return any forms that they issue by the required date. Our DLA guide are on the following link

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlaclaims

Things that you need to consider in regard to reporting a change are whether your husband would meet the criteria for a higher award in the first place and whether he would continue to do so for the 6 months that DLA requires and the 9 months that PIP does. The fact that he is receiving treatment with the intention of improving his mobility may count against him in the future test.

If you have more questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
