Thanks for that, I'm not sure where I got that from, I must of got it mixed up with severe discomfort. The assessor knew that I'm in pain all of the time, hopefully the Gp is rewording his letter for me and that will clear things up. Thanks again.

I have just had my reconsideration letter and nothing has changed. I still have low rate for daily living and mobility despite providing a letter from my GP stating I can only walk 10m before being in significant pain. I don't see what other info I could of included.

I am deciding whether to appeal now. Is it possible not to appeal and then be re-assessed in 6 months time? This seems easier than going to tribunal, but I hate what the system is doing to people and feel that I should fight for the others who can't not just myself.

Anyway, I now have to change my car tax I think, would i be backdated to the reassessment date or just the renewal date, if anyone know that would be great,

Thanks. :(

You can only be re-assessed in 6 months by reporting a Change of Circumstances which must be supported by a documented change in your conditions, otherwise the DWP can ignore the request.

The Car Tax will be from the date that your Mobility was reduced to the Standard rate, although you should still be eligible for a 50% reduction, you should be aware that if you car is improperly taxed it may invalidate you insurance.

Thanks for that, I will sort out the car tax tomorrow, that's the easy part!!

I really need to speak to an advisor about it all, should I start with the CAB?

Does that mean then that if I don't go to appeal and I am not diagnosed with anything new the rate I have now is the rate I will be on forever or can it be changed at review? The date on the letter says the entitlement is until 2018 but it also said it will be reviewed in 2017, do you know if that means another assessment at that point?

Thanks.

Also, how do I go about finding a representative please? I have two weeks until I have to send the appeal form if I decide to go to appeal. Thanks.

Hi Ec,

In response to both of your above posts :

Regarding your 50% discount on your Car Tax, etc, see : This Post.

Regarding gaining advice :

You could start with CAB !!

Other potential sources of help and advice can be seen below :

Where to get advice

Or, you could put Welfare Rights/Advice into Google for your Town/Postcode.

If you are over 50, you could try : Age UK

All PIP awards will be reviewed periodically dependent on the length of the PIP award

If your current award runs until 2018 you can expect to receive your review forms in 2017, 12 months before the end date in 2018.

At review your award can be increased, reduced or taken away all together.

Review procedures will be much the same as your initial PIP Assessment process.
