Had PIP assessment today via Capita was created by skenzie
Attended my PIP medical assessment this morning at 8am , arrived at the building very poorly signed had to ask 2 grumpy staff if i was at the right building and then they tried to re-direct me to parking back down near the road entrance ... i asked if they had disabled parking and was told yes if you have a blue badge !!! Lucky for me i do so was able to park at the side of the building . The assessment centre staff are totally ignorant to ppl disabilities after walking quite a distance which took me ages to reach main reception area they then ask you to take a seat and once they have your info they ask you to move further up onto other seats ... i refused to move as i was unable to due to pain ( lucky to have my main carer Dtr with me to help )... i advised i was sitting there until i was called in for assessment. Finally got called in almost totally emarrised myself stumbled with crutches on entering ... had to request a seat with arms to enable me to have support whilst sitting . Finally the assessment began which took over 1hr . I was asked questions about my medical history that i had recorded - i must add these questions were repeated by the assessor about 5 times but in different ways .. i did say on 2 occasions that i had already been asked that question. I fidgeted throuhgout as the chair was unbearable and i also stood for a few minutes to relieve pressure on back ... the assessor appeared understanding of the need for me to do that. I was asked if i have any hobbies / do i socialise / do i drink alcohol ???? i advised no to all to due pain and mobility difficulties its extrmely difficult and no alcohol due to medication .. i was asked about my depression the assessor appeared quite interested in this - and asked if this affected me daily and then she suggested that my depression does affect me daily ( not sure why she done that ). We then finally had a physical test which was how far i could place my hands behind my back / over my head and if i could touch my toes... i was not able to put hands fully behind back and could only touch my knees ( whilst sitting) no physical activity for my walking was undertaken .. I'm assuming she had observed enough on my embarressing entrance . A lot of questions asked about hosp appointments had and due to attend ... i was also asked if i drive i said yes i have an automatic mobility car ( god send ) how long could i drive for -i advised short distances only to doctors / Hosp app when I'm able too. I was asked if i work i said i do but have not done so for over 4 months now due to deteriorating disability ( i don't claim benefits). Not sure what to make of the assessment but, so glad its over ... there was no small chit chat it was kept very formal ..most of the time the assessor was typing and only really made eye contact when asking a question and returned to type as i was answering them ( under no illusion she could see everything ). I was advised i would be informed of outcome 4-6weeks she will forward her report onto the DWP assessor who will then make a decision. Will keep you posted ...all body parts crossed :S
