how does this affect your benefits if you are about to retire early on medical grounds, is there anything you lose or gain?

If you are receiving any Income Related benefit, such as ESA(IR) or Income Support, then the pension payments will be deducted £ for £ from your payments.

If you are receiving a Contribution Based benefit such as ESA(CB) then there is an £85/week disregard followed by a £1/week deduction for every £2/week in excess.

Benefits such as DLA and PIP are not effected.

I would recommend that you get face to face advice before proceeding so that you have an accurate understanding of how your benefits might be effected.
