INCOME RELATED TOP UP ESA was created by mo57
I receive Contribution based ESA support group and PIP and I have received a small Income related top up of a couple of pounds, am I correct in thinking this now makes my housing benefit an Income related one. My husband started getting carers allowance for me and when he receives rise in his occupational pension can we stop receiving the carers allowance and make our claim remain income related.

It's all very confusing if you don't know the ins and outs of the system, so any help would be appreciated.

Housing Benefit is based on your household income and your assets and savings, if you are currently eligible for Income Related ESA then I would expect you to be eligible for HB.

Not sure what you mean in your second question as you've said that you are already receiving ESA(IR)!

We can't give detailed financial advice on the forum, you need to get face to face advice from a trained advisor, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

Any pension income that your husband gets will be deducted £ for £ from the ESA(IR) element of your ESA payment, it may also effect any HB you might receive.
