Daughter has Asperger's was created by ELEANOR
My daughter was diagnosed very recently with Asperger's Syndrome. Two days after receiving the diagnosis I phoned the DWP to help her make a claim for PIP. They sent a form which has to be returned by September 27. I left it very late to start filling it in as I have ME and was doing things for her before she went back to university so I was exhausted. I have several queries.
1) September 27 falls on a Sunday. Does this mean the form will actually have to be received by Friday September 25?
2) I am completing the form for my daughter. Do I answer questions in the first person and then get her to sign it or do I answer saying 'She' and then sign it myself?
3) Home is her permanent address and was where she was living when she began the claim process but she is at university in Oxford. Do I let them know her term-time address as well? Must she attend an assessment in her home town?

If you can manage to get it back for 25th I would do so, failing that it needs to arrive for first thing Monday 28th.
Have you checked whether you can get an extension (2 weeks), call the DWP office dealing with her claim?
If you are using your words to complete the form, then it should be in the third person and you sign the form, don't forget to explain why you are doing this.
I would explain where she will be an when. What location would be better for her to have an assessment at, explain this on the form? Don't forget to explain how she is managing this course as her doing it will be considered as part of the assessment!
Make sure you refer to the PIP Claim guide

and make good use of an activity having to be done "reliably" for the majority of days for it not score points.

Thanks you! I have had advice from the National Autism Society re filling in PIP form for Asperger's. I have ME and have lots of experience of benefits claims. It's very confusing, isn't it?
