Hi.

Nine weeks ago I had just had 2nd major operation on my kidney that led to a 3rd operation being a blood clot in the same kidney. While I was in hospital I had a call from the jobcentre who left a message on the answerphone to tell me they wanted to see me, the thing is I was in hospital for 12 days due to the 2nd op and the 3rd being the blood clot complication. When i came out of hospital I had an open wound which took 5 weeks to heal and getting it packed etc. Now in that time I was told by the disability officer I had to write a letter explaining this to be put on the support group. She did not tell me what would happen. She stressed to me I would be put straight on the support group, sadly this was not the case.

If you are in the position, do not write this letter unless you have letters from doctors, hospitals, therapists etc. Because they don't just put you on a support group they send a ESA 50 form which totally took me a back.

It is well worth joining a year subscription for the download booklet, it was 84 pages but I also needed both the booklets. It took me 9 hours to fill in the booklet with added extra pages and also letters. One from my doctor, one from a therapist, one from surgeon who is going to do another operation on the other kidney.

But I have to stress you really need those booklets, this site is a godsend.

I also suffer from PTSD and a rare neurological condition and I am also dyslexic, I am fighting to overcome being long term housebound. And its daunting to fill in the form. The questions they ask unless you download that booklet you got to word it correctly.

Thankfully.. I was put on the Support group without a Medical.

I have one question for you.

The form states its for 6 months. Now this will now takes me to 4th December 2015.

Can you please tell me what will happen from then onwards?
(I am still not well enough to search for job interviews.)

Will they contact me and ask me for more details or will they send me another form, god forbid they do not. They panic me out just thinking about it. The specialists have all said they will write another letter if needed in December.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards

PtsdH

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Congratulations on getting your Support Group award, it was obviously a very difficult time for you. Thank you for your kind words about this site :)

ESA is not awarded for a set period of time although there is a 'prognosis' made that indicated when to expect when to expect reassessment. The December date that you were given relates to the date the Christmas bonus is awarded, it does not indicate that your ESA will finish then. We get a lot of this around this time of year and it causes a lot of anxiety :( If you wish to know when to expect reassessment you can contact DWP and ask for the prognosis. You can also ask for all the reports associated with your claim if you wish. This link is still relevant even if you did not have a face 2 face assessment.

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

Hello Mrs Hurtyback

I have unfortunately been on ESA for 5 years. I had the operations that started the jobcentre adviser to tell me to get a letter for a support group. I did the form etc and then i got that letter, it doesn't give me a date of when the support group will end, just the date in December so that is for the Christmas bonus, then how will i know when the support group ends?

I don't expect the ESA will end in December, but i did wonder if the Support Group will?

Can someone please #delete my first post that i added 9 weeks ago, I think that post has to much information on and that as i have a very rare condition there is a very small amount of people in this country with that condition.

Thank you.

Mrs H did actually explain how to find out when you will be re-assessed, you need to contact the DWP and ask, the information is on their computer system as either a re-assessment date or a prognosis!

I'll delete your previous post.

Thank you Benefits and Work Team for your advice and documents to download, this site has helped me so much, I only wish i had known about your site when i went through the PIP because i should have got 1st part of mobility aswell, but only did get the 1st part of the living part. I was told by CAB not to go any further, put me in the scared mode of asking for another decision with PIP.

But this decision for support group I am so pleased I found this site.

6th May 2015 to 18th May 2018

I was told that they will contact me March 2018 to see if things have changed.

Lets hope eh, I hope by then i am healthy and ready to go back to work.

Kindest regards PtsdH xxxx
