Hello,

I have been told I have only been awarded 4 points for mobility and enhanced rate for daily living.

I suffer with several issues. Clinical depression/post natal depression. Severe anxiety and panic attacks.
I was raped in South Africa, on returning in December I have extreme fear of leaving my house. I will only go out to the odd doctors appointment which my husband has to be with me. Even when he is with me I get myself into such a distressed state that I feel like im loosing control of reality. I am very paranoid and seem to misinterpret peoples facial expressions a lot. I always think people are laughing and talking about me. This makes me very volatile, unpredictable and threatening.
When I have left my hluse to go to a docs appointment I get too distressed and feel so overwhelmed that I dont know how to deal with then intense emotions and in that moment I just want it all to end so I put myself in dangerous situations. In february I tried to jump in fromt of a car and then july I wanted to jump off a bridge because I wanted to stop feeling immense qnxiety and distress. I was hospitalised on both times.
In August I took an overdose of 137 tablets and required emergency treatmrnt in A&E and was admitted to hospital again.

I cant deal with leaving my house at all. I lose touch with reality and put myself in dangerous situations even when I have my husband near me.

What are the chances of my asking for a mandatory reconsideration or even taking it to appeals if the MR gets turned down?
I am also affraid of losing my enhanced dailiy living, what are the chances of them doing that?

Any help would be appreciated more then you know.

Kind regards

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

The DWP view of the Going Out activity is that prompting can handle any level of distress that the claimant might suffer from and that the journey is an issue of navigation rather than the claimant being able to manage it despite their anxiety. These matters are covered in our PIP Claim and Appeal guides (link below)

I'm afraid that you will need to go back to basics to explain how you are effected and why their view is insufficient to cover your problems.

Although you can ask the DWP to only review the Mobility component, it is likely that they will look at the whole claim and there is a risk that your Daily Living award could be reduced or even removed.

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process and template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
