Esa and pip was created by Shel09
Hi
What's the difference between esa and pip is there a 3 month qualifying period for esa as there is for pip. Do you need some sort of medical record of you taking therapy or medication for esa as you need for pip.

ESA is for claimants who are unable to work because of their conditions, PIP is for claimants who suffer restrictions with their daily activities and/or mobility due to their conditions, PIP claimants can be in or out of work.

There is no qualifying period for ESA, in fact the benefit can be backdated by up to three months if your GP is prepared to issue a Fit Note to cover you.

As for PIP, you ideally need to provide evidence of your limitations.

See the ESA guides for more information.
