Hello
I have recently seen a neuro physiotherapist about my condition and its affects and they said that my balance was fine they did a few tests and now I am going to join a fitness class. They did not seem to know a lot about my condition i was referred to the physio by my gp. They said that muscle weakness wasnt part of the affects of my condition but have been told by other specialists that it is. I recently went private and received a comprehensive report from an ot saying that i had lots of problems relating to the pip descriptors but have been turned down from pip because i am not seeing someone on a regular basis but as i said before there are no specialists for my condition in the nhs so i have to go private. What would be the best option should i ask for mandatory reconsideration for my last claim?

It is very unusual for there to be nobody in the NHS dealing with your condition, certainly someone with general knowledge even if your particular problem is rare.

You should appeal the decision. You must request the MR within a month although you can do this immediately and send supporting evidence after. It is probably best to go theough the report and set out your evidence and opinion that directly relates to each issue in the report.
Did you send the OT report as evidence in your claim paperwork or have you received it since?

If it wasn't available for the original assessment you can still submit it now with the appeal so long as it isn't saying your condition has deteriorated. If this is the case it can't be accepted without you making a new claim.

I don't want to be ignorant but are you sure there is no specialist for your condition? Have you tried Googling or finding a charity?

hi
yes my condition is dyspraxia I have contacted the support group and they have said that usually a lot of people find it difficult to get evidence from the nhs as they usuually have long waiting lists or there is no one with the knowledge unless you go private. But this is usually on a one off basis I am just very confused at the moment.

I'm not surprised tou are confused.

The support group are giving contrary information.

If there is help on the NHS but a long waiting list surely you cn go on it and say in your evidence that you cannot get to see someone for x months, not your fault.

It is not the case that everyone cn afford to go private and no one should be forced to just to get a consultation. You have rights under the NHS constitution which include seeing a specialist within 18 weeks:

www.nhs.uk/choiceintheNHS/Rightsandpledg...waiting%20times.aspx

I know how difficult it is fighting for your rights in the health and benefits system but someone has to do it. Perhaps you could.
