Awaiting ATOS Assessment was created by kevin scott
My husband has servere osteoarthritis and psoriatic arthritis and since getting both care and mobility components of DLA 18 months ago we have been selected to apply fir PIP as his award is coming to an end in December. His condition continues to deteriorate and along with the valuable information on this site I have filled out the forms but I am dreading the assessment. Please could you help with any advice for us prior to the assessment. What should we look out for, should I take notes etc????

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work Forum. :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If a face to face assessment is deemed necessary, it can be held in your home, or at a PIP Consultation Centre.

You can be present at either, and you can take notes.

If the assessment is to be held at a Consultation Centre, you should be aware that how your hubby manages the return trip to/from the Centre will be taken into account as part of the actual assessment.

He may be observed on approaching, leaving and whilst inside the centre.

Assumptions may be made by the assessor with regards to the above.

These assumptions could result in the assessor writing comments/recommendations within the PIP PA4 medical report which they compile and send to The DWP.

Travelling time to and from a Centre should not take more than 90 minutes either way using Public Transport.

If the face to face is to be carried out in your home, you can choose which room you wish it to be carried out in, and you may wish to show the assessor any aids and/or adaptations that hubby uses in any other rooms.

You can read what to expect at a PIP face to face from around page 70 of our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link down the page)
