Heffy wrote: I have just finally received the decision after what seems like an eternity of sheer anguish and anxiety. The process for me began in November. I did not have a face to face assessment but had a letter about a month ago to say that they had enough information to make a decision. I have hear today I shall receive enhanced rate of the daily living for 6 years but no award at all for mobility. I had previously received the middle rate of care and higher rate of mobility, the latter going to Motability. So whilst I have increased on the daily living I lose my Motability car. My initial thoughts and reaction whilst gutted about my car returning is that having received something I dont think I feel able to ask for reconsideration and then to go to appeal in case I lose everything. I have had a Motability car since 1992 and have vastly deteriorated in all ways since then. Any thoughts and advice would be welcome.
I can't really offer any advice, this is a decision that only you can make.
Even though you might ask for only the Mobility to be looked at, the DWP can expand it to include your Daily Living award and usually do.
First you should look at your DL award, how secure is it? If you scored only the 12 points required then it likely to less safe than if you scored 14 or 16 points.
How likely are you to receive a Mobility award? Under DLA you were likely considered to be unable to walk more than 50m, this would be equivalent to a Standard PIP award, however, you have not even received this, so there must be something wrong with the way that you have described your issues in the first place, if you can't address this then you have no chance of an award.
For the Enhanced award and a Motability lease you need to show that you cannot walk more than 20m, can you do that?
I've assumed you don't expect to score points for the Going Out activity, if you did then it may be easier to get an award but you will still need to address the walking issues.

If you decide to request an MR then this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process and template letters that you can use to make the request with.

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.
Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;
However, as yo did not have an assessment the report will primarily be opinion so you will need to concentrate on those points that you have evidence to show that their opinions were incorrect.
When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
