If I send in a basic request for an MR to reach the one month deadline, would they consider a fuller explanation of where I feel I've been underscored if I sent it a couple of days later?

A friend thinks I should try to avoid the stress of a Tribunal but can't help me do a fuller MR right now.

Is the one month classed as four weeks?

The decision letter was dated 27th April. I'm just double checking, does this mean it has to be returned by 25th May?

It's easy to assume it would need to be returned 27th May. Is the date of return very strict? Would they reject it if it was a day late?

Thank you

The request has to be with the DWP within one month so you need to allow for postage time, if the Decision was made 27 April then the request needs to be with the DWP by 26 May.

AS long as you state on the initial letter that you will be sending further information it should be no problem.

Re: MR

I've rung DWP letting them know further evidence is on it's way. I've also finally got head space to consider adding why I think their decision needs to be reconsidered.

From the PA4, I see the Assessor has written in the "Justification" box that I need assistance with both the Washing & Bathing, as well as the Dressing & Undressing descriptors.

But the Assessor only ticked the box (d) that gave me 2 points on each section relating to needing help with lower body in each of those descriptors.

Does that make sense? ME/CFS doesn't disappear when dealing with the upper body. What reasoning would the Assessor/Decision Maker have used to not see this? If I knew that I could find a counter reasoning.

Or, is there no reasoning? This PIP does seem to be a process where you need to enter the DWP realm of lack of reasoning.

I am only 2 points short of the Enhanced rate for Daily Living.

Thank you

ME/CFS is poorly understood by the medical profession and the Decision Maker has not medial training, I'm afraid you cannot rely on them connecting the dots so you need to spell out your problems in detail even if it means that you are repeating yourself each time.

I would go through the six Descriptors (or as many as are relevant), for Washing and Bathing and provide specific details of your problems for each.

I must let you know that I received very good news and was awarded enhanced rate daily living and enhanced rate mobility. I couldn't believe it when I received the letter and had to keep re-reading it for days. I cannot thank this site enough - the moderators ceaseless care & support & patience and the community sharing their experiences and this site, just for being there.

The whole process brought me to collapse with my health but I would most certainly have given up without this site. Reading other's horrendous experiences of the PIP process made me so angry & although so close to complete defeat, it kept me fired up to continue.

I did not add any further information (I was nose-diving to collapse) when I asked for the MR & just asked for it to be looked at it again. Plus, I had been waiting for months for a consultant appointment which finally arrived & in the nick of time, managed to send a consultant's letter after I'd asked for the MR & I think it was that which helped me. Plus, I think I was lucky enough to have had an actual human with some humanity that did the MR, for which I am so grateful.

So, to everyone going through this process - do not give up!
