PIP INTERVIEW. was created by Mr Dan Cronin
I did have a lifetime award of DLA for my MS and other conditions, I also had a Mobility car. My wife has terminal cancer has not long to go. I was told to go to a PIP interview and surprise surprise, I have been turned down for Pip, I have appealed but was told an internal review will take at least 6 months , then if I disagree with it i can appeal taking another 4-6 months. the intervier was a Pyhsio, who has no knowledge of MS, no medical professional evidence from my 3 Consultants was taken into account , and i lost out by 2 points. I feel like this is the end i cannot take much more. Having worked all my life and asked for nothing , but when it was my turn to ask for help, the Government let me down. Whats sthe point.

Hi Dan,

What a horrible situation you are in, you have enough on your plate without having to worry about PIP :(

As far as your wife's condition is concerned, have you claimed ESA and PIP for her? She should get this fast-tracked if it is expected that she has less than 6 months to go (I'm sorry, there is no nice way of saying that).

For your own PIP, the only way you can challenge this is to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration. There is no time period in which these must be completed but I don't think we have heard of any that have taken as long as 6 months! I suspect you were told this to try and put you off  Information about the MR, and appeal, process is toward the back of our PIP guide.

If you wish, you can also reapply for PIP but you should be aware that the result of this would limit the duration of any award you got as a result of the MR or appeal - so, for instance, if you were awarded PIP at appeal but denied it at reapplication the award would stop at the date of the new decision. Of course, this would also be appealable...

Dan, my son is also in similar position having been on DLA for quite some time, they forgot to send his papers out so it looked like the DLA had elapsed, even though he was still getting paid ! Called for PIP assessment and also interviewed by a young physiotherapist ..and now turned down ...he has uncontrollable epilepsy among other things and no mention whatsoever of something which really affects him ...so you see it is just not you, and we wholly understand your feelings ...what is the point ?? We cannot let them beat us ...there is something really really wrong with all this .....

The MR stage of the process really should not take six months, although there is not required timescale, have you looked at the PIP Appeal guide and I would recommend that you also read the Claim guide to ensure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against?
