ESA SEVERE DISABILITY PREMIUM WITH ENHANCED PIP was created by Fluffy fairy queen
Hello
I recently received an award for enhanced pip mobility and daily living.
I thought this would make me entitled to severe disability premium with my esa. (I'm in the support group)
I filled out a form but heard nothing.
Called esa today and asked them.
They said because my daughter is now over 18 that I'm not entitled.
I told them she was still in full time education.
They said this doesn't matter-I'm not entitled.
Is this correct ?
Thanks

Hi ffq,

I think your problem is that you have to be living alone in order to be entitled to the premiums and this no longer applies as your daughter, at 18, is now an adult.

ESA Premiums

If I have misunderstood your situation, for example if your daughter receives DLA/PIP, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help :)

Hi
Is she not seen as a dependant because she's a qualifying young person under 20 and full time non advanced education?
Thanks

Hi
I receive enhanced pip in daily living and mobility.
She doesn't claim carers for me.

For other benefits, Housing Benefit as an example, she would still be classed as a dependant but for ESA and the Severe Disability Premium, the rule is under 18. Unless she is also in receipt of suitable award, you won't qualify
