Hi my daughter has ASD and Bi polar diagnosis and possibly dyspraxia when the assessment has finished. She has a DLA award until march 2016 which they have sent out the forms for renewal. However she is 16 in the May so will be invited to apply for PIP. I have heard it is difficult to get pip for ASD but I remain hopeful that the medical evidence and the self harm and suicide attempts will be considered. Do you have any tips on here for applying for PIP with ASD? Also it seems mad that I am having to fill in dla forms now for March then she will be called for PIP in May when she is 16. ny DLA award would only be for 3 months ? If they communicated with each other it would help! as any award being so close together is not likely to be any difference in her.
currently she receives higher rate care and low rate mobility as she is not to be trusted out alone for a number of reasons. We have had an educational statement since the dla award and a suicide attempt and a place at a special educational unit. However she does come across as more than capable and will tell you she can do everything for herself. Despite having crippling anxiety.
Any tips on the PIP process welcome along with re-applying for dla for such a short period of time. Thankyou
