PIP Assessment Centre was created by sugapot
Hi, I have submitted a PIP claim as i suffer with chronic back pain and have done for the past 2 years on and off and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety and depression. I avoid going out as it only bring on hyper arousal symptoms and i have thoughts of suicide after due to mixing in crowds and people i don't know.

I have been asked to attend an assessment centre which is 55 minutes journey away, i have no idea of how to get there and there instructions are confusing i dont understand them. I had cancelled the first appointment as i feared going there. I have asked if there is a closer centre however they said that it is the closest.

I have also asked for a home visit but they have said that is not up to them, how would i obtain a home visit as i believe i wont be able to get to the centre and they will reject my claim as a result.
Kind Regards

Hi

In order to be considered for a home visit you should have requested it on the form and got a GP letter to support your request.
As you have rebooked once already you cannot cancel agan without really good reason like rushed to hospital in emergency and even then it would probably be on appeal.
You can go to the companies website or Google assessment centres for Atos or Capita or whoever it may be and find your nearest centre. We have had several cases of assessments being booked at centres a long way from claimants and suspect it may be on purpose to catch claimants out. Can you get someone to take you or ask for funding for a taxi. Taking someone to the assessment is usually the best option if possible.
