Car tax question when losing DLA HRM.

I'm hoping someone on the forum may have experience of this.

If you've gone from DLA HRM, to PIP with no mobility. What's the procedure regarding taxing you're own car (not a mobility supplied one).

Also, do you have send the V5 back to the DVLA to have the vehicle class changed back from disabled.

This all has to be done by Thursday, and the information supplied by the DWP is very scant.

I believe you can do it at a Post Office. See the bottom of following link

Ah ! you can indeed 'now'. Take V5 and MOT (if required) to the PO, change the tax class, pay the money and they send the V5 away to DVLA.

It wasn't that long ago, the PO was telling people all the documents had to be posted off to the DVLA, as they were unable to deal with the complex issues of 3 tiers of taxation. Disabled (enhanced), 50% reduction (standard) and zero.

Equally, the DWP letter still tells people to return their tax disc - confusing for those who no longer have one.

Hopefully, this post may help others in the same position :)
