Claiming PIP by paper form. was created by MICHAEL PHELAN
What is the best way to initiate a PIP claim using a paper form? Will I prejudice my chances by avoiding making a phone call? What are the best reasons to give for not making a phone call?

Thanks very much,. Michael.

Unless there are reasons why you cannot make a phone call, I would recommend that use this method to start your claim.

If you are not able to make a call yourself then could someone make it on your behalf, you would need to be present but they should be able to handle the call on your behalf.

If no one can make the call for you then you need to write to the DWP to ask for a PIP1 to be sent. The address is;

Personal Independence Payment New Claims
Post Handling Site B
Wolverhampton
WV99 1AH

I do have to warn you that the members who have gone down this route have had problems initiating their claim, one even had to involve their MP as the DWP did not respond within the four weeks allowed, so you must monitor it's progress carefully and chase the DWP sooner rather than later.
